Geofencing or QR attendance: which one fits your team?

There is no single best way to record attendance. A warehouse team, a clinic, and a remote-first agency all need different things from their check-in process.
Geofencing works well for fixed sites
Geofenced attendance checks that someone is within a set area when they clock in. It suits offices, shops, and sites where people arrive at the same place every day. Because it relies on location, it needs staff to allow location access on their phones.
QR attendance works well for shared spaces
A printed or displayed QR code at an entrance lets people check in by scanning it with their phone. It does not require location access, which can matter for teams that work across several sites or prefer not to share location.
- Use geofencing when everyone works from one known place.
- Use QR attendance when people move between rooms, floors, or buildings.
- Face recognition is available where supported, for teams that want a hands-free option.
Most teams end up mixing methods, and Clipinn lets you do that from the same attendance view.
